This afternoon I did an interview with ESPN Outdoors (which may be a little bit strange, since the whole book takes place indoors but I'm not complaining) and then with the New York Times. They should both be out within a week. I'm excited about both of them.

I'm surprised at how much better I've gotten at interviews in the past few months. The answer really just is "be friendly, be yourself, be excited."

Hi,

I am wondering how you were able to get people to agree to be photographed?

Did you just ask--put a call out? Did you have to pay people?

Thanks,
Donna

Hi Donna -- I just asked. If someone says "no" you just move along and ask someone else. One thing I've learned over the years is that most people like to have their picture taken, most people like it when you listen to them and are interested in their point of view, most people react favorably when you say "I'd like to tell your story."

Thanks for taking the time to write.
